Wittnauer Braille Tactile Watch — Ref. 48122 | 17 Jewels | Swiss Made
Few vintage watches carry this much purpose. This Wittnauer braille wristwatch was engineered
for the visually impaired — combining a 17-jewel Swiss manual-wind movement with a spring-loaded
hunter cover that swings open to reveal a white dial marked by raised tactile dots and even-hour Arabic numerals,
readable by touch as much as by sight. Wittnauer, the American-market arm of Longines, brought real
movement quality to this accessibility piece. The result is something that works as both a daily wearer
and a standout collector’s artifact — rare, purposeful, and immediately striking to anyone who picks it up.

Condition
Good vintage condition for age. Movement runs. Hunter cover opens and closes with positive snap.
Gold-tone plating shows wear and tarnishing at bezel edges and case corners — consistent with honest
vintage use. Dial has light age spotting but is fully legible and tactile dots are intact.
Acrylic crystal is intact with minor surface haze. Strap is a later replacement (pink/lavender leather,
presentable but not original). Caseback is stainless and shows light bench marks. No crown issues noted.
Not pressure tested — treat as vintage dress piece only.
