Swiss watch industry through the quartz era, sourcing movements from ETA and finishing cases
and dials in-house. This example, reference 10708-D-429, carries the ETA Calibre 980.301 —
a thin, reliable Swiss quartz workhorse. The case is gold-plated over a steel back
(Fond Acier), keeping the weight light and the profile slim. What makes this piece
stand out is the dial treatment: a deep black lacquer field ringed by a full circuit of
faceted clear crystals, giving it a quiet glamour that reads well dressed up or down. Gold-tone
alpha-style hands sweep the unmarked dial with easy legibility.

Condition

Good vintage overall. The gold plating on the case shows characteristic iridescent oxidation
consistent with age — visible on the case flanks and lugs; this patina is honest and expected
on a piece of this era. The crystal has light surface scuffs visible under direct light. The
dial and rhinestone ring are intact with no missing stones noted. The leather strap shows wear
with surface cracking; functional but aged. Keeping as-is preserves the period character;
a fresh 12mm strap would revive it easily.
