Jaeger-LeCoultre Baroque Pedestal Table Clock — c.1950s–1960s

There are desk clocks, and then there is this. Jaeger-LeCoultre — the manufacture that gave
the world the Atmos, the Reverso, and over 1,200 calibers — produced this extraordinary
Baroque-revival table clock during the height of their mid-century decorative output. The dial
is signed Jaeger-LeCoultre, Le Sentier, Suisse and every detail communicates the same
obsessive craft that defines their wristwatches. This is a proper horological object, not a
reproduction or decorator’s prop.

The Dial

Twelve individually cast gilt-brass cartouches carry the Roman numerals I through XII, each
framed in high-relief Rococo scrollwork — acanthus leaves, shell motifs, and foliate flourishes.
The background is a cream silk-textured panel that sets off the warm bronze patina of the
cartouches beautifully. Ornate filigree pointer hands — styled after 18th-century French
horology — complete the period-correct presentation.

The Case & Stand

The circular case is gilt brass, polished to the rim with a shallow convex form. It sits on
a turned pedestal column above a domed acanthus-cast base — the same base motif echoed on each
hour cartouche. The back plate is solid brushed brass with the winding and setting mechanism
mounted centrally. Age-appropriate patina is present on the rear and base; the dial side
displays remarkably well.

Condition

Good vintage condition. The dial and cartouches display beautifully with no damage to the
numerals or gilt cartouche surfaces. The filigree hands are intact and straight. The case rear
shows age-appropriate patina and light handling marks consistent with a piece of this era. The
base retains the original acanthus casting in good detail. Movement winds and runs — service
history unknown; a watchmaker inspection is recommended before extended use.
