Hanhart S — Lever 7 Jewels Shockproof Chrome Stopwatch, Vintage Germany, circa 1960s
Long before digital timers became ubiquitous on every phone, coaches, engineers, and
race officials trusted mechanical precision instruments like this Hanhart “S” to make
the call. Built in West Germany to exacting tolerances, the Hanhart S combines a robust
lever-escapement movement with a thoughtfully engineered case — antimagnetic, self-compensating,
and water-protected. It is a purpose-built instrument from an era when accuracy was not
assumed; it was engineered in.

Condition
The movement runs well — both pushers engage cleanly, the sweep hand starts, stops,
and resets with authority. The white dial is intact with no cracks; the acrylic crystal
is clear with only minor age scratching. The chrome case shows significant honest patina:
pitting and wear to the case band and suspension ring consistent with decades of field use.
No dents or deformation to the case body. Presented as a fully functional vintage instrument.
